Hip Pain & Injuries

Hip replacement rehab, bursitis, FAI, osteoarthritis, and gait retraining.

4–6weeks to meaningful improvement in most hip conditions
Overview

The hip is the powerhouse of the lower body. When it is tight, painful, or restricted, it affects your stride, your posture, and your ability to do the things you love. Patients come to us with everything from acute bursitis to post-replacement recovery. Whatever the cause, our goal is the same: get you moving freely, confidently, and without pain.

Conditions we treat
Hip Bursitis (Trochanteric & Iliopsoas)
Inflammation of the hip bursae causing pain on the outer hip or deep groin, worse with walking or stairs.
Hip Labral Tear
A tear in the cartilage rim of the hip joint causing groin pain, clicking, and limited mobility.
Hip Impingement (FAI)
Abnormal contact between the femoral head and acetabulum causing groin pain and restricted rotation.
Groin Pain & Hip Flexor Strains
Muscle strains and soft-tissue injuries around the groin and front of the hip.
Hip Osteoarthritis
Degeneration of the hip joint cartilage causing chronic pain, stiffness, and reduced stride.
Post-Hip Replacement Rehabilitation
Structured recovery after hip arthroplasty to restore gait, strength, and full independence.
Hip Instability
A feeling of weakness or the hip giving way, from muscle weakness or structural laxity.
Limited Hip Mobility
Restricted hip flexion, rotation, or extension limiting walking, sitting, or sporting activity.
Common symptoms
  • Groin ache or deep buttock pain
  • Pain with sitting for extended periods
  • Stiffness that is worse first thing in the morning
  • Reduced stride length or altered walking pattern
  • A clicking or catching sensation in the hip
  • Pain climbing stairs or getting in and out of a car
You don't need a diagnosis to book. Just describe what you're feeling and we'll help identify the cause.
Our approach

How we treat
hip pain & injuries.

01

Hip Strengthening & Stability

Progressive loading of the glutes, hip abductors, and external rotators to stabilise the hip joint.

02

Gait Retraining

Analysis and correction of walking or running patterns that place excessive stress on the hip.

03

Manual Therapy to Joint Capsule

Hands-on mobilization of the hip capsule and surrounding soft tissue to restore range of motion.

04

Functional Activity Grading

Systematic progression of daily activities from basic movement through to full functional return.

05

Aquatic Therapy (when appropriate)

Hydrotherapy for early post-surgical rehabilitation or when pain limits land-based exercise.
